Konark Temple

Exemplary architectural splendor of the medieval times and an outstanding religious structure of the world, the Sun temple or Konark temple dates back to the thirteenth century during the rule of King Narasimhadeva. The entire temple is designed in the shape of a giant chariot carrying sun god across the heavens. A stunning instance of Orissan temple architecture, Konark’s Sun temple has been aptly described by the famous Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore as 'here the language of stone surpasses the language of man', which means Konark is impossible to translate into words.

The highly venerated temple of Puri Jagannath is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the garb of Lord Jagannath. Frequented by multitude of stout devotees and tourists from all over the world, the Puri Jagannath temple renders Puri as one of the four abodes of God spread in the four cardinal directions in India, as per Hinduism. The 65 meters high temple is a fine instance of the architectural splendor of its times during the reign of Ganga dynasty’s Chodagangadeva, who built the structure in 12th century AD over an earlier structure that dated back to the 10th century.
